ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIP
1, Directly responsible to the Superintendent of Schools
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. The Director assumes responsibility for the operations of Torrance Adult
School including, but not limited to; providing leadership to the management team; interpretation and implementation of state, federal and Torrance Unified School District Board policy and regulations; budget development; grant administration; data collection and reporting to state and federal agencies; hiring, evaluation and supervision of certificated and classified staff; community support and relations; and, positioning Torrance Adult School as a trusted source of continuing community education in Torrance.
2. Management and oversight of state mandated Average Daily Attendance (ADA) program.
3. Assists in preparation of Torrance Adult School budget.
4. Responsible for procurement and management of all grant programs
5. Supervise, monitor and evaluate state attendance and accountability systems.
6. Supervises the development of all Adult Education curricular development and make adoption recommendations to the Board of Education.
7. Torrance Adult School representative in attendance at Board meetings.
8. Torrance Adult School representative at local (Region XIV) and state meetings
9. Supervise, monitor and evaluate the Adult School assessment program.
10. Supervises Torrance Adult School Human Resources operations.
11. Participates in Adult Education contract negotiation.
12. Supervises the Torrance Adult School Community Education Program.
13. Responsible for monitoring Adult Education legislation at state and federal levels.
14. Supervise, monitor and evaluate Adult Education Payroll and Accounting procedures.
15. Directs all state and federal agency reviews (Coordinated Program Management (CPM), Workforce Investment Act, Community Based English Tutoring (CBET).
16. Supervises the Torrance Adult School Diploma program for students concurrently enrolled in Torrance High Schools as well as the program for adults wishing to complete their high school diploma.
17. Perform other related duties as assigned.
