POSITION TO BE FILLED: Food Service Assistant I (3.0 hours per day)
DEFINITION:
Under general supervision, to prepare, cook, serve foods and baked goods, and act as a cashier; to assist in the cleaning of the kitchen, serving area, and food service utensils and equipment; and to do other related work as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Follows oral and written instructions. Assists in preparation of salads, soups, and other foods under the direction of Food Services Supervisor. Participates in serving of foods on lunch line. Assists in maintaining the food service facility in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition. Washes and stores utensils, containers, and trays. Assists in maintaining inventory control.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
· methods and procedures for preparing and serving food in large quantities;
· standard food service terminology, appliances, and equipment;
· sanitation and safety practices and procedures;
· basic arithmetical calculations and measurement processes.
Ability to:
· meet the physical, mental and environmental demands of position as per Job Analysis;
· adhere to standard menus and recipes in the preparation of foods and baked goods;
· operate and maintain food service related equipment;
· collect money and make change accurately;
· work efficiently and effectively;
· understand and carry our oral and written directions;
· establish and maintain cooperative working relationships;
· remain flexible despite frequent schedule or job duty changes.
Education, Training, and Experience:
· Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by training in food preparation, safety, sanitation, or other related area.
· One year of quantity food preparation, service and kitchen maintenance functions in a commercial, institutional or school service facility.
License Required:
· Valid Food Handlers Card issued for Riverside County;
· Valid Food Handlers Certificate.
