Pleasant Holidays is one of the largest travel wholesalers in the United States specializing in vacation travel to the Hawaiian Islands, Caribbean, Central America, Europe, Mexico, Middle East, South Pacific (Australia, Cook Islands, Fiji, New Caledonia, New Zealand & Tahiti), Japan, the United States & Canada, and cruise vacations worldwide is seeking a Senior Programmer Analyst.

Pleasant Holidays is a subsidiary of the Automobile Club of Southern California, a diversified insurance, roadside assistance, financial services and travel organization serving AAA Members for more than 100 years.

Summary:  

The Senior Programmer Analyst will perform a wide range of COBOL development-related duties. Including analysis, design, research, requirement evaluation, transactional development, testing and maintenance of new and existing COBOL software applications. This would also include API / Web Service development (for both internal and external use/consumption).  

Primary Duties:

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist in the planning, design and development of software requirements and/or adapt computer systems which are complex and very large in scope

• Analyze business requirements for large multifunctional projects, test computer applications, applying knowledge of programming techniques and computer systems, write on-line programs, and create on-line screens. Using AcuCobol and other technologies as required.  

• Participate in feasibility studies, analyze business requirements, interface with users to identify and develop system requirements taking into account desired results, hardware limitations and operating requirements

• Prepare detailed documentation, provide user training and support as required, ensure procedures are thoroughly tested before release and monitor test results.  

• Detect and debug programs, as required

• Network, read manuals, periodicals and technical reports to stay informed of new developments and techniques to develop new programs to meet user requirements

• Perform other related duties and assignments as required

Pre-requisites:

• This highly motivated person must have: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience            

• 4-6 years’ experience in systems analysis & programming

• Excellent technical, analytical and organizational skills

• Recent Experience with COBOL development required, preferably AcuCobol. 

• Must be proficient with software development life cycle principles.

• Excellent interpersonal skills to work across departments

• Skills in Microsoft Word and Excel required, experience with Visio (or other diagramming tools) preferred

• Ability to provide accurate estimates of time and resource using project management software (MS Project / JIRA)

• Ability to work with minimal supervision

• Ability to work with a team or independently

Preferred:

• Experience leading projects and project teams.

• Unix/Linux Operating Systems

• Competent at defining and creating API’s using tools and technologies including XML Schemas, XSLT,  XML, JSON, Java, PERL ? Familiarity with http/s and other communication transports/concepts such as REST, SOAP

• Experience working within airlines, hotel or travel industry

Location:

• Position is located in Westlake Village, will consider remote.

The starting pay range for this position is $33.00 – $38.00 per hour.
