About the Employer
The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students.
In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment.

Job Summary
Human Resources provides services to the internal operations of the Orange County Department of Education and technical/advisory support to Orange County school districts, community colleges, and other agencies. The Human Resources Department works to build a world class educational organization by offering proactive services in Human Resources, Benefits, Risk Management, Safety/Emergency Preparedness, and Employer/Employee Relations.
The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Human Resources Technician. This associate supports OCDE's mission of meeting the needs of all students and plays a vital role in promoting a professional work environment. Key responsibilities involve executing a range of administrative tasks to aid the Human Resources teams, including maintaining employment-related records, managing employee records within the Human Resources database system, and facilitating the onboarding process for substitute employees. Additionally, the Human Resources Technician will contribute to the team by assisting with various record-related tracking activities.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
• Graduation from high school or high school equivalency test
• At least two years of progressively responsible experience in human resources functions, including specific experience in conducting applicant recruitment/selection
• Experience in the California public education system is especially desirable.
