ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Juul seeks a dynamic engineer to support our internal Test Infrastructure and Sustaining Engineering activities. In this hands-on, cross-functional role, the candidate will be responsible for developing the next-generation of hardware and software testing infrastructure that will enable Juul Labs to bring our hardware products to the next level. This role will work to build, test, and validate hardware and software tools. This role will work with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure that project requirements are met to achieve optimal experiences for our customers. In addition, they will troubleshoot and make improvements to existing test instrumentation products, and work closely with other members of the engineering staff to tackle design and automation challenges.

Hybrid role in office Tuesday and Thursday
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designing and building custom test systems to support hardware, software and firmware testing. Examples include:
- Systems to automate hardware-in-the-loop testing of firmware and software builds
- Systems for facilitating automated production testing of hardware in factories
- Systems for automated data collection, analysis, and visualization for system validation and characterization
- Internal research tools
- Building custom tools to enable greater efficiency during new JUUL product development
- Troubleshooting and bringing up custom test-fixtures developed internally and by our contract manufacturing partners
- Designing, building, and verifying PCBAs, schematics, BOMs, and PCB layouts for new and existing tools and fixtures
- Developing best-practices for creating, executing and managing tests on JUUL products.
- Developing custom drivers for hardware support
- Developing, implementing, and debugging tests spanning multiple layers of our IoT stack (embedded Linux, mobile, cloud services) is a plus
- Maintaining hardware-in-the-loop automated testing infrastructure for embedded, connected devices (firmware, mobile, cloud services)
- Creating and monitoring bugs using our issue tracking system
PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
- Understanding of serial communication protocols I2C, SPI, UART
- Experience with microcontrollers and embedded HW
- Experience with sensors or other ICs communicating over SPI and/or I2C
- Schematic capture and PCB layout expertise, preferably with Altium Designer
- Excellent software development skills and coding standards
- Excellent understanding of continuous integration practices and principles
- Excellent critical thinking, analytical problem solving and communication skills
- Experience with Bash, Git, Python, and at least one other programming language
- Preferred experience with AWS and/or GCP specifically related to cloud storage
- Preferred passionate for data analysis and visualization

- BS or higher in Electrical Engineering, or related technical field

Salary varies by role, level and location, and is dependent on the cost of labor in a given
geographic region among other factors. These ranges may be modified at any time.
