GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Designs and administers the School Library program including establishing goals, ensuring efficient operation and optimal service, effective expenditure of budget, efficient organization and circulation of materials; collaborates with classroom teachers to provide group and individual instruction in information skills, research strategies and use of resources and equipment; promotes reading, literacy, and library use; promotes awareness of and effective use of information resources and services in the school community.

Design, teach, and assess learning experiences (group and individual) that incorporate inquiry learning, information literacies in their formats, critical thinking and self-assessment implementing national, state and Hanover County curriculum standards
Promote a love of reading and lifelong learning
Collaborate with classroom teachers as a partner in the instructional process
Develop and maintain a collection of resources appropriate to the curriculum, the learners, and the teaching styles and instructional strategies used within the school community
Promote instructional technology to improve learning
Plan and provide professional development
Promote the ethical use of information: copyright, fair use, and licensing of intellectual property
Articulate and practice division policies, specifically those related to library processes and instructional materials
Stay current in professional practices and educational research
Perform related work as required
Qualifications: KSA's, Education
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of national, state and division curriculums and standards. Exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal and technical communication skills. Exceptional organizational and time management skills. Familiarity and proficiency using and managing Microsoft office products (i.e. word, excel, outlook, email, database, etc.).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Requires current Virginia Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Library Media. Highly qualified candidates will hold a Master's degree in Library Media and Postgraduate Professional Certificate.

Requires physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Position may include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions. Work is typically performed in a school setting. May require long periods of walking, sitting or standing. Contact with students, teachers, school and county administration, parents, and the community is required. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. Consistent and regular attendance is essential in this position.
