Outpatient Physical Therapist:

Minimum Education:
• Graduation from a Physical Therapy curriculum with B.S., M.S., DPT, or certificate in Physical Therapy from a school approved by the council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and the American Physical Therapy Association.
Minimum Experience/Knowledge:
Experience:
• 5+ years of experience
• Experience in Acute Care, NICU, Lymphedema, Pelvic Floor Therapy and/or Outpatient Orthopedics/Sports determined by the needs of the PMR department.
Ability:
• Effective oral and written communication skills to work with patients, families, physicians and other personnel.
• Performs effective evaluation and treatment techniques; develops treatment plans to meet therapy and patient goals.
• Advanced Practice in a specialty of Physical Therapy Practice (i.e., Orthopedics, Lymphedema, Neurology, etc.)
Knowledge:
• Must understand and utilize the theories behind physical medicine at an advanced level of skill.
• Must understand theory, precautions and contraindications for all physical medicine agents and procedures for their effects on the child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient. Be able to provide guidance for Outpatient staff.
• Must have advanced knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and psychosocial issues in order to assess the effects of treatment on body function and structures for the child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
• Must understand concepts of isolation, sterile technique and the applications within physical medicine
• Must understand the required policies and procedures for PMR and the hospital in general.
Required License/Certification: • Current license to practice Physical Therapy in California issued by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Medical Quality Assurance or the Physical Therapy Examining Committee, or license applicant
• Current certification in BLS for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association
• One (1) or more Advanced Certification preferred (i.e., OCS, WCS, lymphedema management, etc.)
• FallProof Certification required if leading a FallProof Wellness Class
• Lee Silverman Voice Therapy (LSVT) BIG Certification required for therapists servicing patients in LSVT BIG Program
• American Physical Therapy (APTA) Credentialed Clinical Instructor preferred
• Annual certification/recertification in AB508 required for staff assigned to Geropsychiatry and ED Units.

The hourly rate range for this position is $46 to $76.
