Overview
AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. (the “Company”) is a global property and casualty insurance holding company that is looking for an Accountant II to join the Finance Team in Jersey City, NJ. In this position, you will be responsible for assisting in the accounting for the Assigned Risk program within the North America Property & Casualty Insurance segment.
Responsibilities
Perform routine financial close activities such as journal entries, account analysis, and financial package preparation
Prepare and maintain complete and accurate workpapers including detailed quarterly accrual schedules
Perform quarterly trend analyses by financial statement line item or GL account; investigate and provide commentary on fluctuations for management
Work with external business partners (Reinsurers / Agencies) in settling open recoverable / payable reinsurance balances.
Assist corporate accounting team in the preparation of quarterly reserve rollforward and premium deficiency analysis.
Monitor status of external auditor requests and coordinate with finance teams to ensure timely delivery of deliverables
Support the company's framework of internal controls by driving the design and execution of related SOX controls
Assist with other ad hoc responsibilities including but not limited to participation in special projects, such as system implementation and/or enhancements, business integration, and internal controls
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance (a CPA certification or MBA degree preferred but, not required)
2 + years of experience in accounting, financial reporting and/or audit
Strong understanding of US GAAP accounting and financial reporting requirements
Well-developed organizational and time management skills, consistently meets deadlines
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
High attention to detail and accuracy, actively seeks to improve processes
Curious and eager to learn
Proficient with MS Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.)
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning Software (Oracle) and Hyperion (HFM) or FCCS a plus

The salary range for this role is $60k - $85k. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Jersey City, New Jersey. This range may be modified in the future.
