POSITION SUMMARY:
The Consulting Group (CG) Analyst participates in overall business growth of a Wealth Management team by developing customized Financial Plans /Asset Allocation proposals, designing tailored reporting for new and existing clients, and creating and executing marketing strategies to attract new clients. The CG Analyst is also responsible for matters of technical policy and standards, presentation materials, and performance measurement for complex accounts. The role is responsible for ensuring a consistent, positive client experience to help ensure all commitments are completed and delivered in a timely manner.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Development:
- Synthesizes client/prospect data to develop customized financial plans/asset allocation proposals utilizing the Firm’s proprietary software tools
- Designs and produces strategy reports and other types of communications for Financial Advisors / Private Wealth Advisors to use with clients and prospects as part of the overall marketing initiative
- Provides tailored recommendations to the Financial Advisor / Private Wealth Advisor about specific client situations and opportunities to consider by using Consulting Group manager research
- Thoroughly understand and utilize the firm’s financial planning tools to analyze complex financial information and lead presentations in partnership with the Financial Advisors / Private Wealth Advisors on the team
Client Support:
- Prepares performance reports and other data for clients, that may involve computing account performance, analyzing investment portfolio holdings, and generating quarterly investment performance monitors
- Develops presentation materials and proposals to assist Financial Advisors / Private Wealth Advisors in prospecting and cultivating new business opportunities
- May participate in or conduct client meetings with or on behalf of the Financial Advisor / Private Wealth Advisor
- Engages in interactive dialogue with clients and prospects to determine investment objectives, current portfolio status, risk tolerance, and other information necessary to craft comprehensive financial strategy in conjunction with the Financial Advisor / Private Wealth Advisor
- Develops Statement of Investment Policy for clients in coordination with Financial Advisors
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, and SKILLS:
Education and/or Experience
- 5 years of experience in a field relevant to the position required
- Four-year college degree or professional certification preferred
- Active Series 7 (GS) and Series 66 (AG/RA) or Series 63 (AG) and Series 65 (RA)
- Additional product licenses may be required
Knowledge/Skills
- Enjoys working with people and solving problems
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to measure performance of clients’ portfolios
- Proficient in applicable software applications
- Knowledge of financial industry and investment products preferred
- Strong understanding of applicable compliance rules, regulations, and firm policies
- Detail-oriented with superior organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Able to work independently and effectively on a team
- Ability and interest in working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Willingness to obtain the CIMA or CFA designation
Reports to:
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $50,000.00 and $105,000.00 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
