Job Type: Contract, Full-Time, On-Site (M-F: 1st Shift)

Job Description:
The Scientist role is focused on investigating automated sample preparation and library preparation solutions for next-generation sequencing platforms using the GeneXpert system. The candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with teams in Engineering, R&D, Chemistry, among others, and with external partners. This position requires a self-motivated, curious, and highly organized individual who is also an innovative problem solver.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently design strategies and experimental plans for new sample prep, library prep, and sequencing methods.
  

• Conduct hands-on evaluations, tests, development, and troubleshooting of methods.
  

• Work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-disciplinary environment.
  

• Analyze data utilizing tools such as Microsoft Excel, Minitab, R, or command line tools.
  

• Conduct studies with limited supervision.
  

• Establish prototype specifications for initial feasibility studies.
  

• Maintain detailed experimental records.
  

• Present findings and participate in group meetings.

Essential Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering) with 2+ years of experience, or Master’s/Doctoral degree with 0+ years of experience.
  

• Deep knowledge of and experience with nucleic acid purification, PCR.
  

• Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex problems.
  

• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and statistical analysis tools like Excel, Minitab, or R.

Desirable Additional Qualifications:

• Experience in short-read (e.g., Illumina) and long-read (e.g., Oxford Nanopore) sequencing experiments and data analysis.
  

• Familiarity with data analysis in a Linux/Unix environment.
