Position Summary:
The Texas Region currently has an opening for a Semi Truck Driver – Heavy Equipment Hauling position based out of Channelview, TX. The Semi Truck Driver will conduct or ensure preventative maintenance services and light mechanical repairs on semi-tractor and trailers and inspections are kept current. The Semi Truck Driver is essential and assists the region in ensuring timely delivery of equipment & materials to our construction projects.
McCarthy will provide the safety equipment, trucking equipment and fuel needed to perform tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Safely deliver equipment and materials to projects using RGN Heavy-Haul or step deck trailers.
Safely load, secure, transport and unload heavy construction equipment and materials.
Maintain records, delivery documents and driver log.
Obtain haul permits as needed for any oversized loads.
Plan routes and schedules to meet customers' expectations.
Inspect & maintain the haul truck & trailer through pre & post trip inspections.
General inspection of cargo being delivered/transported.
Act as liaison between customers and Yard management to ensure customer satisfaction and notify Yard of any damage to equipment or grievances.
Maintain a safe shop work environment and clean company vehicle.
Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules.
Able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Qualifications
5+ years’ experience as Class “A” CDL Licensed driver.
Ability to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
Familiarity with construction/equipment industry preferred.
Familiarity with city area layout and ability to utilize navigational tools.
Lowboy trailers/RGN trailers and construction equipment background a must.
Must have knowledge of & understand current DOT & FMCSA laws.
Ability to be able to multi-task and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
Exhibit strong work ethic, teamwork, customer service, verbal and written skills.
Must demonstrate good problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, excellent communication skills.
Must have valid Class “A” CDL License with an excellent MVR.
Must either have or be able to obtain a Port of Houston TWIC Card as required, within 30 days of employment.
Must either have or be able to obtain a DOT HazMat Certification as required, within 60 days of employment.
Minimum age 21.
