Primary Responsibilities:
Functions as the educational resource for assigned department(s) and incorporates best practice standards and financial stewardship in all educational offerings. Assesses the educational needs of assigned clinical areas and provides in servicing, classes, on-line modules and other educational materials to achieve and meet yearly educational goals. Teaches nursing, unit or division orientation programs for newly hired or transferring employees. Oversees new-hired employees and provides them with an individualized clinical orientation by arranging their orientation schedule with an assigned preceptor and monitors their progress. Ensures clinical staff in area(s) of responsibility maintain required competencies and that they are documented and filed per regulatory requirements. Actively coordinates and participates in house-wide life support re-certification programs.
Education, Training and Experience Education Coordinator I (BSN):
BSN required
Minimum of four (4) years of clinical experience in specialty.
Skills or Other Qualifications Education Coordinator I (BSN):
Proficient in computer skills for data entry and PowerPoint for education and competency documentation purposes.
Demonstrated knowledge of advanced nursing theory and clinical practice.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to develop individual education plans.
Ability to operate a variety of audio-visual and computer equipment.
Ability to provide programs based on adult learning principles.
Knowledgeable in subjects in which they teach both clinically and in life support programs.
Skilled in lesson planning and teaching.
Knowledgeable of regulatory standards and monitors and improves performance for clinical units in area of responsibility.
License and Certifications Education Coordinator I (BSN):
Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of California.
BLS certification required.
Specialty certification preferred.
