JOB SUMMARY
The Habit Burger Grill is excited to host a summer intern on our Food Innovation team. This position is in-person, based out of our office in Irvine, CA. This is a temporary position starting June 2024 to August 2024 (No more than eight weeks expected).
As a member of the team, you will work closely with our Product Commercialization Analyst and Director of Culinary & Innovation on projects centered around executing shelf life studies, performing QC analysis, and recipe development and optimization.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Shelf Life Studies
· Execute shelf life studies to evaluate the stability and quality of our food products over time.
· Analyze data from shelf life studies to identify factors affecting product integrity and develop strategies for improvement.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement changes based on shelf life study findings.
Quality Control Analysis:
· Review supplier specifications and identify non-conformities.
· Conduct sensory evaluations to assess product quality.
Recipe Development and Optimization:
· Update and optimize existing recipes to improve taste, texture, nutritional profile, and cost-effectiveness.
· Conduct trials and experiments to test new ingredients, formulations, and processing techniques.
· Collaborate with Marketing and R&D teams to develop new products and meet market demands.
Documentation and Reporting:
· Maintain detailed records of experiments, test results, and formulation changes.
· Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations.
· Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to food science and technology.
· Assist in creating training guides across multiple departments.
Continuous Improvement:
· Identify opportunities for process optimization, waste reduction, and efficiency improvement.
· Support studies to further develop a technical understanding of product attributes to support base business.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- Current college student graduating on or before Summer 2025 OR current graduate student OR experience in related field
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver based on priority
- A passion for culinary field, desire to learn and grow in the industry
- Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship
COMPENSATION
Salary Range: $20.00 to 23.00 per hour. This is the expected hourly range for this position. Ultimately, in determining pay, we'll consider the successful candidate’s location, experience, and other job-related factors.
