Responds to Combat and Weapon Systems equipment casualties, troubleshoots equipment issues, determines failed module or component, repairs equipment by replacing failed module or components.
Utilizes special or general-purpose test equipment, tools, optical aids and other techniques during troubleshooting, maintenance and equipment repair process as needed.
Assists system engineers by performing duties requiring practical and technical knowledge with assigned equipment and systems to facilitate design or development work, performing work with minimum supervision. May develop test software code or write scripts using but not limited to: Linux, LabView, Visual Basic, etc.
Provides support for test events as related to RI equipment responsibilities including but not limited to system hardware and software configuration, operation, fault insertion and performance evaluation. Operates general and special purpose test equipment in conjunction with RI equipment responsibilities in support of test events and other activities as needed. May direct other personnel in performance of duties related to assigned equipment.
Documents equipment maintenance using electronic documentation tools and performs upgrades as directed from site configuration management or supervisor.
Contacts subject matter experts, engineering agencies and others as needed for assistance in connection with RI equipment assignments including but not limited to maintenance requirements, fault investigation and troubleshooting. • Experience with U.S. Navy shipboard maintenance and test procedures desired. Training and experience with Guns Weapons Systems (GWS) and/or Vertical Launch Systems (VLS) especially desired. Skilled with other Aegis ACS/AWS elements such as: Tactical Weapon Control System (TTWCS), Navigation Systems (AN/WSN-7, NAVSSI, GPNTS), Underwater (AN/SQQ-89) and others also a plus.
•Self-starter with flexibility to support changing requirements in a demanding, dynamic test environment.
•Ability to adapt current skills, knowledge, and experience to evolving technology.
•Experience or familiarity with Linux/Red Hat (RHEL) operating system. • Ability to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and perform system upgrades to ACS (Aegis Combat System) elements and AWS (Aegis Weapon System) elements at CSEDS.
• Ability to research technical manuals, specifications, and drawings in support of Aegis baseline developmental testing.
• Strong written and verbal skills, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively both individually and collaboratively.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
