Job Summary
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of special education students in a classroom environment; assist in preparation of instructional materials and implementation of instructional activities; perform clerical related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of the 12 grade; AA degree or 48 units required; 6 units of college credit in the field of Special Education required.
Experience: 6 - 12 months experience working with LH children preferred
Miscellaneous: Receive a passing score on the District's proficiency examination and spelling test.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Assist classroom teacher with academic program of students. Seventy-five percent of time should be spent working with students in direct instruction. Twenty-five percent of time may be spent in assisting teacher in preparing for instruction, preparation of materials, arranging room environment as related to studetn instruction, scoring of tests, record keeping as related to direct instruction, excursions, filing and typing instructional lesson. Mst be willing to provide health related standardized procedures related to activities of daily living which maintain optimal health. Examples: toileting, catheterization, utilizing equipment to responsition students, and assisting with nutritional needs. Other duties may be assigned by the District Psychlogist or teacher as related to direct or indirect instruction for students.
DUTY DAYS
180 duty days per year as assigned; 6 hours per day (8:30 a.m. / 2:30 p.m.)
Requirements / Qualifications
• Associate’s Degree or higher, and/or 48 college units
• Passing of the district proficiency exam
• Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate
• Bilingual Spanish / Hmong preferred
