VCA West Coast Specialty & Emergency Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to complement our talented team in Fountain Valley, California. 18300 Euclid St., Fountain Valley, CA 92708.
The position is in our Emergency Department, full-time, 10hr shifts 4 days/week, swing and/or overnight with the flexibility to work at least one weekend shift.

The hourly range for this position is $21-$25, with a shift differential of $2/hour for swing shifts and $3/hour for overnight shifts. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years experience in an emergency or urgent care setting
- Ability to navigate high paced workflow with a sense of urgency
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Able to be part of a collaborative team-oriented environment
- Comfortable to ask for help & clarification when needed
- Posses a high attention to detail
- Able to perform skills including:
- Venipuncture
- Catheter placement
- Bandage/splint positioning
- Wound care
- Radiology
- Anesthesia set up
- Patient Assessment/Triage
- Laboratory processing
- Pharmacy
- Patient recovery
- Care for hospitalized patients/follow treatments plans
- Calculate and administer medications, including fluid bolus & CRI
