Job Description

Our Company is seeking a motivated, experienced scientist with experience in tissue-based assays to support discovery and translational research in our pathology group in South San Francisco. The successful candidate will implement molecular and histopathological techniques for high dimensional multiplexed imaging to support novel drug and biomarker development, particularly in oncology. Experience with the Akoya Phenocycler/Fusion system is essential.

The successful candidate will:

• Develop and validate staining protocols for Singleplex and high dimensional multiplexed assays examining molecular targets in intact human tissues

• Collaborate with vendors to effectively troubleshoot any issues related to the equipment, such as the autostainer and scanner, to ensure their proper functioning

• Take charge of maintaining accurate records of reagent inventories and be responsible for ordering when needed

• Interact seamlessly with pathologists, IHC bench scientists, histotechnicians, and other stakeholders to drive projects with quantitative imaging endpoints

This position will be lab-based and require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm to work collaboratively with others within the department, and a strong drive to solve problems, overcome obstacles, and innovate.  The successful candidate will have a high level of comfort with complex multitasking; be self-motivated and productive; and be able to work independently, with minimal oversight.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree with two (2) years of relevant industry experience

Required Experience and Skills:

• Expertise in AKOYA’s Phenocycler/Fusion highly multiplexed system

• Experience with antibody conjugation

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain and organize records, including tracking reagent inventories, consumables, and placing reagent orders, as well as generating staining protocols

• Experience with troubleshooting instruments by closely working with vendors

• Consistent ability to deliver results under deadlines, even when managing multiple projects simultaneously

• Enthusiastic to learn new technologies and acquire additional skill sets

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• High level of comfort with histology/microanatomy

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence.  This Hybrid work model does not apply to, and daily in-person attendance is required for, field-based positions; facility-based, manufacturing-based, or research-based positions where the work to be performed is located at a Company site; positions covered by a collective-bargaining agreement (unless the agreement provides for hybrid work); or any other position for which the Company has determined the job requirements cannot be reasonably met working remotely. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.
