Family Resource Center Head Teacher/Instructor 12 months; 37.5 hours per week
Position Overview: The Head Teacher/Instructor is responsible for upholding the philosophy and mission of the Branford Family Resource Center. This position will plan the learning activities for the classroom and connect them to the CT Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS). Time will be allotted each day in the classroom and out of the classroom for planning purposes.
Supervision received: Receives overall direction from the Director of Early Childhood
Supervision exercised: Supervises the teacher and assistant teachers in the preschool program
Salary Range: $26.50 -$31.00 per hour
Start Date: July 2024
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for supervising designated groups of children
Plan a preschool curriculum that meets the needs of all children in the program using the CT Early Learning and Development Standards and the Branford Public Schools Pre-K Curriculum
Complete all required paperwork including: daily child reports, monthly parent newsletters, child assessments, and accident and incident reports
Meet with families two times per year to develop and implement an education plan for each child
Share pertinent information with the Director immediately
Collaborate with Branford’s Linda B. Chipkin Early Years Center, attend PPTs, and offer support regarding children who attend both programs for services
Maintaining the classroom NAEYC portfolio
Attend conferences and workshops for professional development in ECE
Other duties, as deemed necessary, by the Director of Early Childhood
Education and Experience:
Have the ability to be patient, creative, and flexible while working with children and families of diverse backgrounds
Relate to parents, staff and community in which the children live
Create an atmosphere that upholds the integrity of the program
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education required
Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
Maintain a Head Teacher certification through the State
