Description: This is a full-time position based out of the League Office in Shrewsbury, New Jersey and reports directly to the ECHL’s Vice President of Hockey Operations. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day administration of all League Standard Player Contracts, player transactions, and Salary Cap compliance. This position also includes daily communication with Member Teams regarding the proper application of all Playing Rules and Collective Bargaining Agreement items.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
Knowledge of the professional hockey industry
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work nights and weekends
Ability to meet hard deadlines
Prior experience in professional hockey preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Central Registry Duties:
Maintain and distribute Leaguewide rosters and Daily Transactions
Review and approve (or decline) all ECHL Standard Player Contracts, Tryout Agreements, and Salary Changes
Monitor and ensure compliance with the roster limits and Salary Cap for each team
Review, approve, and track all player trades between teams throughout the year
Track ECHL contracted players’ salaries on a daily basis
Update and distribute ECHL contracted player salaries on a biweekly basis for team payroll purposes
Work with Immigration Counsel and each team’s immigration contact to ensure all foreign-born players are in the United States with employment eligibility
Maintain the player reserve system throughout the offseason (protected lists, season ending rosters, qualifying offers)
League Administrative Duties:
Update and distribute Playing Rules and Regulations
Develop a complete understanding of Playing Rules, Regulations, and CBA
Review and approve all Affiliation Agreements
Distribute various league memos regarding upcoming critical dates throughout the year
Assist with the creation of the League’s game schedule each season
Assist with reviews for player discipline throughout the year
Track all Rulebook fines (Misconducts & Game Misconducts) and assess them to each team’s pre-paid fine account
Distribute All-Star ballots, tabulate voting results, and assist with All-Star team selection
Distribute end of season award ballots and tabulate voting results
Create complete hockey operations analysis at the end of each season
Main point of contact for Booster Clubs & update Booster Club Manual
Review and confirm all international player transfer requests as they are received from USA Hockey and/or Hockey Canada
Review and approve all player housing requests submitted by teams as they come in
Keep a running tab on players and staff who need to complete the league’s Sports Wagering Integrity Training
Other duties as assigned by VP of Hockey Operations & Commissioner
