This role is hybrid. We believe in empowering our employees to get work done both in and out of the office.
As a Senior Security Engineer, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by protecting system boundaries across the company and its subsidiaries, including Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, Corporate Development, Public Affairs, Safety & Security, Legal and Compliance. You’ll keep server, storage, and cloud platforms hardened against attacks, securing highly sensitive data while engineering, implementing and monitoring security measures for the protection of our computer systems storage and data center.
How you’ll help move us forward:
Be the first line of security defense for the IT Computing Platforms team and liaison and interface with the Corporate Information Security Office.
Build and maintain information security processes and procedures to help meet enterprise information security policies.
Lead Data Center information security vision, strategy, and initiatives.
Identify information security gaps and transparently document and report risk.
Work with technical teams to implement or improve solutions to address security gaps.
Plan and coordinate the deployment of vulnerability patching to all computer systems.
Coordinate and respond to security findings, whether self-identified or brought to the team through other channels.
Collaborate with other teams to improve, modify, or propose holistic security-related processes involving the on-premises and cloud environment.
Manage and maintain information security technology platforms for on-premises and cloud.
Research and be on top of vulnerability, malware, common vulnerabilities and exposures of Wintel, Linux, physical, hypervisor, storage systems, cloud systems.
Design computer security architecture and develop detailed cyber security designs; plan and coordinate the deployment of security and vulnerability patching to all computer systems.
Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols.
Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.
Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes, and propositions for further system security enhancement.
The experience you bring:
BS degree in Computer Science or a related field.
8+ years of information security and IT infrastructure related working experience.
Relevant certifications such as CISSP or GSEC.
Proven experience as a system security engineer or information security engineer.
Demonstrated ability to implement Policy as Code.
Experience with programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.).
Thorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols.
Hands on experience with security systems such as intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, content filtering.
Experience writing and reviewing technical documentation, policy documents, and procedure documents.
Strong knowledge of on-premises and cloud systems such as hypervisors, storage systems, Active Directory, Windows and Linux servers, backup and recovery, server hardware, AWS, physical and cloud networks.
Experience managing cloud security, AWS and Azure preferred.
Knowledge of cyberattack techniques, detection of cyberattacks, and prevention methods.
Self-starter; must be able to identify, plan, and track milestones to achieve goals with minimal direction or supervision.
Must have strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Experience articulating technical security concepts to a variety of audiences.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Base Pay Range:
The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
$131,040.00 - $160,160.00
