Overview The Senior Director of Food Safety & Microbiology is responsible for providing strategic leadership, guidance and execution of the company’s food safety, microbiology, and corporate sanitation programs and champions food safety culture efforts. Responsibilities · Provides Leadership and development for the corporate Food Safety, Microbiology, Auditand Corporate Sanitation teams. · Provides technical Food Safety & Microbiological expertise and direction to Quality Assurance, Research & Development, Operations, and Engineering partners. · Partners with Operations to create, influence and drive a strong Food Safety Culture at T. Marzetti. · Responsible for the development and execution of the company’s EPM program. · Leads execution of food safety and spoilage risk assessments on ingredients, products and processes. · Serves as regulatory contact and food safety expert for the corporate recall team. · Develops, reviews, and revises corporate policies, guidance documents and procedures related to Food Safety & Microbiology. · Responsible for the internal food safety auditing program and facility preparedness, ensuring audit readiness. · Establishes and maintains industry networking relationships with technical experts from industry, consulting and regulatory agencies. · Ensures compliance with all aspects of FSMA and HACCP. · Transforms data into actionable and meaningful strategies and initiatives in order to drive improvements across the supply chain. · Provides Food Safety expertise and guidance regarding sanitary design for expansion projects and equipment qualification. · Oversees the development and execution of food safety training across the organization. · Serves as customer contact for technical food safety communication and analysis. · Oversees Sanitation Governance for all Marzetti facilities. · Direct supervision of 2 Food Safety Managers and Corporate Sanitation Director Qualifications · Bachelors or Masters Degree in food science, microbiology, food safety or other related, technical field · 15 plus years of experience in food safety or quality management within food manufacturing. · Demonstrated strong expertise in food microbiology andfood safety quality systems with a proven track record of developing and implementing successful food safety programs in a food manufacturing environment. · Expertise in food safety & regulatory requirements, including FSMA, HACCP, Acidified Foods, and GFSI · Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization. · Exceptional problem solving and decision making skills with a focus on continuous improvement. · Ability to travel between 25-30%.
