PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and coordinate the activities of staff including training, employee development, performance evaluation, hiring decisions, and the establishment of goals and performance objectives for assigned department.
Provide continual evaluation of department processes, methods, and activities to assure the most effective use of resources and equipment.
Manage budget and expenditures.
Ensure that the department has adequate resources to support projects and PREs in technical safety/compliance matters as needed.
Assign, prioritize, and manage all Global Technical Safety and Compliance activities.
Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure interpretation of international standards is provided to the engineering organization as needed.
Lead a global team of technical safety and compliance experts within Engineering team to ensure high quality and timely delivery of support to the engineering organization.
Interview and hire staff, when needed.
Review and approve timecards for hourly employees in accordance with established payroll deadlines.
Conduct performance reviews with all team members semi-annually, as a minimum.
Conduct individual development plan reviews with all team members semi-annually, as a minimum.
Prepare status reports on a weekly basis.
Escalate issues to management, when necessary.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
At least 5 years of experience, and at least 2 years of experience managing, coaching, and mentoring staff.
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is required.
Completion of the Leading Self & Others program within NOV or equivalent.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to effectively communicate relevant technical safety/compliance requirements in deliverables to Engineering, Global Technical Safety and Compliance team, and management, when needed.
Must be able to assist/support project teams in strategic meetings and minimize potential project risks.
Must be able to encourage continuous improvements through new or improved processes and tools.
