SCOPE OF POSITION:
Truck Driver is responsible for operating a non-CDL 26-foot straight / box truck, with a capacity of less than 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), primarily to deliver or pick up customers freight. Shuttle customers raw materials, spare parts, recyclables, and or finish product between our customers campus and Suddath’s in-town Jacksonville warehouse’s. Operate various types of Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) or manual material handling equipment to move freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or loading docks, delivery vehicles, or containers. Assist Warehouse personnel with pulling and preparing orders for shipment, as well as receiving, verifying, staging and stocking all incoming material
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
- Complete a daily truck log and submit reports of mileage covered at EOD.
- Conduct daily inspections of the vehicle at the end of the shift and report any problems or damage to management.
- Load and unload trucks using Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIV), pallet jacks, and hand trucks / dollies as needed.
- Ensure that all shipping documentation (e.g. manifest, security seal sheet, bills of lading, shipping orders, freight bills, etc.) required to move with shipments is available for inspection and that appropriate paperwork accompanies shipment when delivered
- Responsible for the put-away, sorting and/or placement of inbound freight or items on racks or shelves and maintain effective use of warehouse space.
- Utilization of wireless RF device or desktop computer to perform all Warehouse Management System (WMS) data entry transactions / material moves, including but not limited to put away functions, bin-to-bin transfers, and inventory lookup.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, multiple priority environment.
- Maintain effective communication with customers, co-workers, and other team members.
- Maintains a safe work environment by working in a safe manner, following current warehouse safety rules, and departmental operating procedures and maintaining a clean work area by breaking down cardboard, picking up loose trash or boards, and keeping warehouse clean.
- Performs other tasks deemed necessary by management. Complete special projects, duties, or assignments appropriately.
- Must have the ability to work flexible or continuous shift hours, overtime and provide on-call support during normal scheduled work hours to meet business needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
- Regular Driver’s License Required, but Class B is preferred. Must have minimum of one year of experience driving at least non-CDL straight / box truck.
- Minimum of 1-2 years relevant warehouse or manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Previous Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) experience.
- Experience working with a diverse group of people.
- Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices.
SKILLS / PROFICIENCIES:
- Must be certified to operate manual and motorized material handling equipment, including, but not limited to, forklifts, reach truck, and pallet jacks.
- Proficiency with common software (E.g. Microsoft Office) and or ability to quickly become proficient with new software.
- Math skills required (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
- Ability to adhere to site safety regulations including wearing required personal protective equipment such as steel toed safety shoes and hearing protection.
- Demonstrate knowledge of or the ability to learn the use of computer systems, faxes, and printers.
- Clean driving record with no “major moving violations” (as described in the employment application supplement and in accordance with applicable state law)
- Ability drive you must pass a motor vehicle report (MVR) background check and pass a Suddath road test.
- Ability to work under pressure and to react to situations with a strong sense of urgency.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate throughout all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
- Must be able to work overtime, holidays, and weekends based on work volume needs and as requested by the Warehouse Supervisor / Manager.
- Ability to analyze data and information, and to handle large amounts of paperwork and transactions, with a high rate of accuracy.

- The employee must be able to climb stairs, bend at the waist, twist, climb, stoop, stand, walk, grasp, pull, push, and have the full use of fingers on both hands to enable safe material handling, as well as function efficiently and safely.
- Requires driving straight truck for a minimum of 2 hours per day and a potential of up to 10 hours per week.
