Position: Senior Software Engineer
Job Location: 850 Cherry Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066
Duties: Build and design highly engaged in-house distributed software applications and Restful microservices that operate at Sam's Club scale in virtualized cloud environment. Engage with teams to ensure coding and development processes are scaling and evolving with modern development, CI-CD, microservices architecture, and engineering practices. Maintain and improve the backend Continuous integration and delivery systems including tools such as GitHub and Docker. Prepare and execute playbook for production releases in large cloud-based environments, create resiliency and disaster recovery plan for Sam's Member Desk Applications. Provide support to the business by responding to user's questions, concerns, and issues (for example, technical feasibility, implementation strategies), identifying short- and long-term solutions, facilitating resolutions and leading cross-functional partnership. Model compliance with company policies and procedures and support company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans. Participate in the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with high level architectural design by partnering with the product management, project management, business, user experience teams and obtaining cross-function approvals. Monitor and orchestrate services such as Kafka and MeghaCache in a highly distributed cloud environment. Utilize performance tuning and analytics tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or related field and 2 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment; OR Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or related field and 5 years of experience in large scale enterprise software development environment.
Skills required: Experience designing software with object-oriented principles. Experience designing and implementing REST API web services. Experience implementing server side nodeJS framework. Experience developing test case framework using Mocha and Junit. Experience analyzing logs using Splunk, ElasticSearch and Grafana Framework. Experience utilizing version control Git and continuous integration Jenkins. Experience in Cloud deployment technology including Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, and GCP. Experience in scripting to perform tasks using Python. Experience with caching layers including memcache and message queue system including Kafka. Experience decomposing monolith into microservices architecture. Experience performing database operations for SQL and NoSQL databases. Demonstrated knowledge of android application. Employer will accept any amount of graduate coursework, graduate research experience or experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: $175,395/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.? Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
