Position description
The Department of Theater and Dance invites applications for a teaching position in the following areas of specialization: Dance History and Performance. The department seeks an individual passionate about teaching Dance 45: Dance History and Appreciation, a large lecture course in dance history (500+ students per quarter, consisting of both majors and non-majors), with the possibility of teaching the full academic year (Fall/Winter/Spring Quarters). Dance 45 is in its 27th year as one of the most popular General Education courses on campus, serving a campus-wide need for lower division Arts electives.
Work will be in person on the UCSB campus; reimbursement for travel and housing expenses will not be provided. The Department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and service. Salary is based on UC’s salary scales and depends on qualifications.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD (or equivalent) in Dance/Performance Studies/History or related field, except the dissertation, at the time of application.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
A PhD in Dance/Performance Studies/History or related field is required by the time of appointment.
Preferred qualifications
Teaching experience at the college or university level.
