Job Abstract

The Cardiac Stress Nurse Practitioner has the primary role of ensuring the safety of the patient during the performance of a cardiac stress test. Working independently and collaboratively with the attending cardiologist, this individual will perform cardiac stress testing on Adult patients in the stress lab at Parnassus and across all UC locations as required. The NP works with the patient’s referring Provider to ensure appropriate stress testing. The NP is responsible for the pre-assessment of the patient, diagnostic preparation, and obtaining consent. The NP monitors the patient throughout the test, in recovery and is responsible for the completion of documentation. Working under Standardized Procedures the Nurse Practitioner will provide urgent care to patients experiencing acute coronary syndrome, arrhythmias or other test/post-test complications using guidelines from the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology. The testing includes performing exercise and pharmacological stress testing following advanced practice protocols. Supervision of the technicians during the stress test is expected.

• Work experience in an academic medical center.

• Minimum two (2) years Nurse Practitioner experience.
• Minimum two (2) years experience in the care of general cardiology, cardiac critical care, advanced heart failure, and adult congenital heart populations.
• Prior telemetry experience.
• Ability to identify arrhythmias and appropriate treatment.
• Exposure to stress testing.
• Possess the skills, knowledge and abilities essential to successfully perform the duties of the this position.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize workload.
• Excellent communication skills.
