Position Summary:
The primary goal of Dr. Chong Xie’s laboratory is to realize the seamless integration of man-made electronics with the nervous system and to help us better understand, interact with, and augment living systems. The Xie laboratory has recently focused on developing a scalable, tissue-integrated electrical neural interface composed of ultra-flexible nanoelectrionic threads (NETs), which promotes reliable, glial scar-free integration with the nervous tissues and enables reliable chronic recording.
We are looking for a Process Cleanroom Technician to support multiple projects related to the fabrication of ultra-flexible neural electrodes. They will be responsible for executing processes typical for MEMS fabrication and support process development for other R&D projects.
Ideal Candidate Statement:
An ideal candidate would have prior experience working in a cleanroom environment and basic knowledge of the standard processes involved in MEMS fabrication.

Hiring Range: $42,500 - $52,900
This position is funded by a grant, soft and/or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of funding.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 1+ years experience in working in a cleanroom environment (semiconductor or MEMS fabrication)
- Hands-on experience with photolithography, metal deposition, and dry/wet etch processes
- In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis may be substituted

- Experience with semiconductor fabrication
Essential Functions:
- Assists in neural probe fabrication using established process steps
- Collects and tracks data using spreadsheets and database
- Assists in the research and development activities related to fabrication, including promoting safety, and preparing simple reagent mixtures
- Prepares procurement requests and orders materials and supplies, manages sample and stock database, sets up and manages experiments, and maintains research results for publications
- Performs all other duties as assigned
