This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic urban, growing organization just 5 miles west of New York City in the water front city of Perth Amboy. The Raritan Bay Area YMCA has served the ever-evolving needs of our community since 1912. We enthusiastically serve over 6,000 members in the Raritan Bay area in our community building initiatives through Healthy Living, Youth Development and Social Responsibility.
Raritan Bay Area YMCA is looking for an energetic, outgoing, customer service driven individual to join their Welcome Center Team. Membership Services Representatives provide the best member experience for all members. They are expected to greet members, perform basic functions in the membership department and assist with any membership or branch events.
Under the supervision of the Membership Director, the Member Service Representative will be responsible for assisting with all procedures related to the enrollment of members, enrolling program participants, controlling access to the facility, and all facets of providing exceptional customer service. The Member Service Representative will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of all membership data, answering the telephones, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the lobby and café area.
The Member Service Representative must exhibit sound judgment, have great interpersonal skills, and the ability to function well in a fast-paced environment. They must demonstrate the qualities of a positive role model in working with customers. They will demonstrate a cause driven leadership through the following YMCA Leadership Competencies- Mission Advancement; Collaboration; Operational Effectiveness and Personal Growth. The Member Services Representative engages in and promotes the YMCA mission through the core values: Honesty, Faith, Caring, Responsibility and Respect
Some duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
- Conduct interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sells memberships.
- Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.
- Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
- Adhere to dress code - Must wear name tag, staff shirt, black or khaki pants, comfortable shoes or sneakers. No open toe shoes. (for safety reasons)
- Process memberships and take photos for membership cards. Ensuring accuracy in spelling and non-duplication in the database.
- Attends all staff meetings and trainings.
- Assist with maintaining a clean facility appearance at all times (ie. sweeping, dusting).
- Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate director.
- Responsible for other duties, as assigned by supervisor.
- Walking through the bathrooms and/or locker rooms every half hour
- Operating and maintaining the Café area. Stocking merchandise.
- Filing/scanning all membership and all related forms.
- Availability to work weekday morning, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
This is a part-time, nonexempt position.
