The PACU Nurse Educator is responsible for cross collaborating with the PACU Nursing leaders to oversee all new hire orientation, new hire education, and continuous education for the surgical services department. The PACU Nurse Educator will update policy procedures, ensure regulatory compliance, and be an overall resource to their team. Ideally, the RN Educator PACU will hold their Master’s Degree with their active Registered Nurse RN license and a recent clinical background working in a Post Anesthesia Care Unit.
The Nurse Educator is responsible for designing, teaching, and evaluating and executing educational programs for all levels or professional, technical, and ancillary staff in the PACU. Programs include the orientation of new employees, in-service education relevant to the hospital environment, and continuing education offerings which are expected to maintain and/improve competency and work performance.
Participates in performance improvement activities. Oversees and develops a mentor, preceptor, residency programs. Assesses data relevant to the learner’s progress and interprets the appropriate information necessary to develop group and individual learning plans. The Nurse Educator is a clinical expert with abilities to foster the clinical development of the staff that she/he guides.
