Responsibilities: | The Mannes School of Music at the College of Performing Arts seeks highly motivated students to serve as Research Assistants. We’re looking for meticulous and responsible individuals to support initiatives within the Area of Research. This position reports to Ho Chak Law, Assistant Professor of Race and Musicology, and is an ideal position for students who are interested in a career in the music industry or in music studies.
This is a SENS-UAW unit position as per the collective bargaining agreement between SENS-UAW, Local 7902 and the University.
This position is open to student applicants with Federal Work Study awards, as well as student applicants without a Federal Work Study award.

Work Mode: On-Campus Position
Hourly Rate: 30.16 USD per hour
Hours per Week: 5
Responsibilities: - Transcribing audio recordings of songs for comparative analysis
- Verifying and organizing data associated with particular musicians, musical events, or audio recordings
- Updating a bibliographic database
- Additional responsibilities as assigned to support ongoing research projects and substantive academic tasks associated with course work and/or faculty research.

Minimum Qualifications: | Minimum Qualifications: - With experience transcribing or analyzing music (of whatever genres or traditions)

Preferred Qualifications: | Preferred Qualifications: - Familiar with Sibelius or Finale
- Having taken one or more courses on topics related to music transcription or music analysis
- Proficient in one or more of the following language(s): Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Hokkien, Cantonese, Mandarin
- Current student in a Mannes School of Music (BM, MM, PDPL) or School of Jazz & Contemporary Music (BFA) degree program
