Sanctuary for Families is New York’s leading service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking and related forms of gender violence. Every year, Sanctuary empowers thousands of adults and children to move from fear and abuse to safety and stability, transforming lives through a comprehensive range of services. We provide a range of wrap-around services to help survivors rebuild their lives in the aftermath of abuse, and work to end gender violence through three key strategies: direct services, outreach and training, and systems-change advocacy. Our services are available in 12 locations throughout New York City.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Assists Director of Facilities with ensuring program sites are safe, clean and in good repair as well as administrative tasks. Responsible for day-to-day facility and maintenance issues at Sarah Burke House.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures sites are properly maintained in accordance with fire safety, health and building codes.
- Provides repair and janitorial services to all common areas.
- Ensures apartments are cleaned, repaired and painted after a family moves out.
- Performs minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry work as needed.
- Ensures grounds are maintained.
- Assists with moving families in/out of the facility when required.
- Assists with ordering, counting and storing shipments.
- Ensures maintenance stock room is maintained in an orderly manner.
- Maintains inventory of maintenance tools, equipment and supplies
- On call responsibilities
- Responsible for agency vehicle maintenance.
- Task supervision of maintenance staff
- Assists with training new staff
- Coordinates/engages with vendors and contractors
- Performs any other department or agency related duties or special projects as directed.
- High School Diploma or GED strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years related experience required.
- Preferred candidates will have at least one year of supervisory experience, leadership skills, and experience training maintenance employees.
- Basic computer skills.
- Comfortable using an electronic ticketing system.
- Ability to multitask
- Fluency in English, Spanish is a plus.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Able to operate small tools.
- The ability to lift and carry items up to 100 lbs.
- Possess a valid NYC driver’s license for a minimum of three years with no points, and current experience driving in New York City.
Budgeted Salary: $30.22hr-33.38/hr. ($55,000 - $60,754 Annually); pursuant to Step wage scale in accordance with collective bargaining agreement
Work position is Full-time/35hr/Week; Hourly - Non-Exempt
Work schedule is currently in-person; must be able to meet job location schedule obligations.
