Facility Overview: The MCF Cytometry and Cell Imaging Lab (CCIL) Recharge Facility maintains shared resources that support a wide range of basic and translational research on the Florida campus of the Mayo Clinic. Staff in the facility manage, operate and train users on a variety of equipment, including flow cytometers, cell sorters, microscopes, slide scanners, and a mass cytometer, to analyze a wide variety of cell types. We are embedded in a vibrant research environment with investigators focused on cancer cell biology, immunology and neuroscience. The facility has extensive experience with high-parametric flow cytometry and tissue analysis, cell sorting, immune monitoring and state-of-the art digital imaging.
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated individual who has a strong desire to learn state-of-the-art technology, enjoys being “hands on” with high-end instrumentation, and works well in a team setting. The candidate will primarily be responsible for sorting and analysis of fluorescent cells using our BD FACSAriaII, Bigfoot, and Sony SH800 cell sorters and Attune NxT and Aurora analytical cytometers. The incumbent will operate and maintain these instruments, train users on them, and provide support for sample analysis. Ideal candidates love the power and the challenge of flow cytometry technology. The person in this position must think independently, communicate clearly, be customer-service minded, and have an enthusiasm for high-tech equipment and the science that they enable.
Position responsibilities include:
•Operation and maintenance of flow cytometry instruments, including a FACSAriaII cell sorter, a Bigfoot, a SH800 cell sorter, an Attune NxT analytical flow cytometer, and an Aurora full spectrum flow cytometer.
•Teach researchers proper and independent use of the equipment
•Consult with users regarding sorting and flow cytometry projects
•Assist with, advise on, and teach simple and complex panel design and data analysis
•Perform general instrument upkeep, routine maintenance, and quality control
•Interact with the vendor field specialists for proper care and maintenance of the equipment
•Other equipment and facility responsibilities as assigned
During the selection process you may participate in an OnDemand (pre-recorded) interview that you can complete at your convenience. During the OnDemand interview, a question will appear on your screen, and you will have time to consider each question before responding. You will have the opportunity to re-record your answer to each question – Mayo Clinic will only see the final recording. The complete interview will be reviewed by a Mayo Clinic staff member and you will be notified of next steps.
