We have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Director of Business Development to join our team in Washington, D.C.
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc (GA-ASI) is seeking a detail-oriented team player to represent GA-ASI and liaise with the Department of Defense (DoD), its service components, and other government agencies. This is a full-time position located in Washington DC, that reports to the Vice President of DoD Strategic Development and is responsible for directing business development activities for products and services within the company’s portfolio of capabilities. A successful candidate should be a self-starter with minimal oversight, demonstrate good analytic and organizational skills, and be an experienced strategic communicator. Travel to GA-ASI headquarters in Poway, CA is required, and travel overseas is anticipated.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Represents GA-ASI by creating, building, and maintaining relationships with the DoD, its service components, and other U.S. government organizations.
Develops short and long-term strategies for the company’s various products and services.
Consults with executive management to implement current, annual, and long-term business development objectives for the company.
Maintains situational awareness of customer organizational structures, authorities, roles, responsibilities, and operations.
Assists in shaping requirements to facilitate development and procurement of GA-ASI products and services to include other partners.
Prepares written products (reports, info papers, executive summaries) to inform, shape and defend GA-ASI positions.
Prepares and presents briefings to DOD leadership and other stakeholders as required.

Typically requires a Bachelors or Masters in business administration or a related field and fifteen or more years of progressively complex experience in business development with at least eleven years managing business development activities. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
Must demonstrate a detailed and extensive expertise and application of business development principles and concepts, and practice as well as comprehensive project management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
Must possess the ability to resolve unusually complex management problems.
Serve as spokesperson on projects.
Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment.
Frequent travel may be required.
Top Secret SCI security clearance required; current Top-Secret SCI preferred.
