Supervises daily activities of staff of the Diabetes Awareness and Wellness Network- DAWN satellite locations, including work assignments, employee counseling, performance evaluation, employee hiring, development and training.
Manages site financial operations, including grant management, budgeting, cost projections, procurement, inventory, and expenditure control.
Designs, plans, implements, and evaluate the Diabetes Awareness and Wellness Network- DAWN Nutrition component, such as writing goals, objectives, program protocols, standards, establishing quality assessment and controlling policies and procedures across all locations.
Monitors and evaluates the impact of the nutrition component in the DAWN centers and across the Office of Chronic Disease, Health Education, and Wellness.
Coordinates and integrates nutrition education services with other operating programs.
Coordinates and supervises clinical experience and internships for undergraduate and post-graduate students, and dietetics students.
Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with civic, industry, educational, research, governmental, medical care and other agencies concerned with public health and nutrition.
Provides specialized nutrition consulting services and handles special projects as required.
Develops and ensures the delivery of program specific training as needed.
Serves as the internal subject matter expert for community-based nutrition education and food access.
Supports and participates in other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION Requires a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or a closely related field with case work in public health (epidemiology, health administration, health planning), and a professional certification/license is required.
EXPERIENCE Five years of experience in the field of nutrition and/or dietetics in a progressively responsible administrative or supervisory position are required.
Master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or closely related field may be substituted for two years of the experience requirement.
License: Must have a valid Texas driver's license and comply with the City of Houston's policy on driving.
PREFERENCES
**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
