DESCRIPTION
The Worldwide Grocery Stores (WWGS) Accounting team supports Amazons physical store businesses. This is one of Amazons latest business ventures and while our teams key area of responsibility, Revenue, is highly automated, our team also focuses on developing and documenting core processes and controls and establishing best practices. This role will lead our team, and partner heavily with stakeholders including operational accounting teams, policy, finance, and tech to support the growth of our business ensure the foundational structure is scalable while help grow the business into Amazons next major offering. In addition, this role will support month end close, product launch testing, revenue analytics and reporting, as well as ensure controls are executed and functioning appropriately.
The candidate will need to be comfortable working closely with members of cross-functional teams to assist in the design, development, and delivery of accounting requirements that support business growth and launches. You will need to understand end-to-end risks to effectively develop the control environment. You will also need to understand and document end-to-end process flows. This person will have operated successfully in a fast-paced, and results-oriented environment. Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial, as well as ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope business requirements and prioritize.
Key job responsibilities Oversee various aspects of our accounting month-end close and financial reporting process. Understand internal control design concepts sufficient to assess the effectiveness of controls in and design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities. Ability to develop and provide accounting requirements to operationalize complex accounting concepts. Research and conclude on accounting policy and document position papers related to new business launches. Escalate risks and issues as necessary to leadership. Strong sense of ownership. Ability to identify process improvement and automation opportunities to drive positive change across the organization. Ability to develop partnerships between cross functional stakeholders.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience - Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field - Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- CPA - Knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency - Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients - Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions
