The ideal Candidate hired will, under general supervision, perform a wide variety of para-professional human resources work in the areas of recruitment and selection, benefits administration, leave administration, employee relations, and other technical duties in support of the agency’s human resources functions by performing the following duties.
Examples of Duties
Performs a variety of technical and clerical duties in support of the agency’s recruitment and selection process.
Participates in the employee onboarding process including orientation, processing paperwork, and verifying work eligibility.
Assists with Personnel Policy Manual updates; ensures policy updates are distributed to all employees.
Assists with the administration of the employee benefit program.
Assists with leave administration, worker’s compensation, and the Drug & Alcohol Program activities.
Assists with employee relations initiatives.
Answers questions and provides information to the public and agency staff on human resources-related matters.
Assists in the research, data compilation, and preparation of reports and spreadsheets.
Participates in special projects as needed.
Serves as backup to clerical staff as needed.
The Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school; and three years general office experience (two of which should be in Human Resources Department); or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Must be familiar with current business operating systems, software and programs.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
General knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and procedures related to employment/personnel. Knowledge of benefits administration (group medical insurance, workers’ compensation, unemployment insurance, etc.); knowledge of basic office equipment. Skilled in personal computers, particularly using spreadsheets and word processing software Ability to keep confidential information. Ability to assemble and organize data used in research studies and prepare reports. Must work well with others.

Candidates will be screened for relevant qualifying experience that consists of an evaluation of education and experience. The most competitively qualified candidateswill be invited to participate in the selection process. The selection process may include a combination of written, performance, and oral examinations.
