Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a CTC Assistant Manager, Comprehensive Transfer Center.
In this role, the successful candidate Provides leadership for Comprehensive Transfer Center (CTC), managing patient flow activity into and within NYU Langone Health. Oversees placements, direct admissions, external transfers, and intrafacility transfers into and within NYU Langone Health in collaboration with CTC leadership, CTC Medical Directors, Hospital Chief Medical Officers (CMOs), frontline staff, and members of the interdisciplinary teams.
Job Responsibilities:
Serves as CTC team lead to ensure strong communication between all team members, external stakeholders and leadership. Ensures a collaborative interdisciplinary approach to achieve optimal outcomes and further goals of the CTC.
Oversees CTC functions in a responsive manner responding to all callers with the aid of the Electronic Health Record (EHR), approved clinical protocols, and established patient care protocols and healthcare information.
Provides leadership for the CTC, serving as a role model and resource for all staff. Partners with on-site leadership to ensure safe and efficient throughput of patients.
Collaborates with CTC leadership team on development of workflows and associated policies to ensure safe and reliable transfers and placements of patients. Implements change management strategies and provides support to facilitate adoption of new policies and workflows amongst staff.
Leads and conducts thorough investigations of patient safety events to CTC and hospital leadership, ensuring a detailed understanding of timelines and events. Participates in institutional RCAs, providing additional information to facilitate comprehensive understanding of events. Fosters culture of continuous improvement by utilizing investigational insights to enhance departmental policies, procedures and workflows.
Collaborates with unit and service leadership to create real-time solutions to unforeseen capacity constraints. Independently activates pre-existing surge plans and effectively communicates plans to frontline staff.
Supports departmental data collection, monitoring, evaluation, and analysis. Reviews issues for the purpose of developing and implementing protocols, policies and procedures.
Models excellent customer service and relationship skills, including in-person, telephone and email communication with key internal and external stakeholders.
Ensures adherence to appropriate departmental policies, procedures, and communications.
Develops training materials and provides ongoing training to staff members.
Provides educational opportunities to frontline staff by hosting in-service events with subject matter experts from multidisciplinary teams.
Monitors staff performance, providing feedback to staff when expectations are not met and additional training or corrective action as needed.
Ensures Transfer Center RN Coordinators communicate clearly and document all pertinent patient information in EHR. Reviews transfers to ensure patient information and clinical status is accurately communicated to CTC Medical Directors, accepting attending physicians, nurses and other clinicians.
Facilitates patient flow throughout the transfer process, prioritizing placements, transfers and direct admissions by leveraging systematic processing of patient acuity and expert critical thinking and decision-making.
Manages staff scheduling, adhering to institutional policies and departmental scheduling guidelines.
Escalates issues requiring senior leadership review and/or approval as needed.
Provides on-call leadership support to frontline staff outside regular business hours as needed, ensuring continuity of guidance and decision-making.
Provides flexible scheduling to support the daily operational needs of the department.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree. 3 years of relevant experience. Current NYS RN license. Proficient in EMTALA. Strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, analytical/critical thinking and conflict resolution skills. Ability to establish and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships. Ability to communicate effectively in oral, written and electronic formats (i.e. email, electronic medical record, etc.) Excellent telephone manner and use of professional vocabulary. Ability to function calmly in a stressful situations and fast-paced environment. Positive, enthusiastic, customer-service oriented personality..
Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
Masters Degree in healthcare related field

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $97,589.95 - $162,649.75 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
