The GYN/ONC Nurse Program Coordinator develops, coordinates, and manages clinical and administrative activities related to the Gynecology Oncology Program. Essential Job Statements
Follows documented physician/licensed provider orders, within the boundaries of the Nurse Practice Act, licensure, and established standards, policies, and practice guidelines. Organizes and plans work with input from the patient/family with specific outcomes and demonstrated use of sound clinical judgment and resources.
Provides supervision and oversight for the gynecology oncology specialty program, serves as the clinical and administrative lead for all meetings related to the program.
Leads and coordinates activities and organization initiatives for the management of gynecology oncology across the continuum of care including development of new services related to gynecology oncology.
Maintains oversight of provider schedules for ambulatory, inpatient, and operating room to ensure seamless coordination of patient care. Establishes plans for provider and staff coverage, meeting the needs of patients. This includes developing coverage for escalation for clinic, triage, infusion, and Operating Room.
Participates in the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring process of new employees. Oversite for the onboarding of new employees of the gynecology team. Provides feedback to Clinical Manager of gynecology oncology clinical team during annual review period.
Collaborates in development, implementation, communication, and monitoring of the multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary plan of care for complex patients.
Collaborates with Cancer Service Line (CSL) Nurse Clinicians to provide team member training and education related to Gynecology Oncology.
Coordinates outpatient scheduling visits, diagnostic testing, transplant protocol, etc. with healthcare team and collaborates with nursing staff in the formulation of plans of care and education of patient/family regarding patient plan of care. Ensures patients are seen at the correct location based on acuity and patient specific plan of care.
Consistently monitors patient satisfaction and customer feedback, taking prompt action on issues striving for service excellence.
Incorporates data analytics to inform gynecology oncology team of developed metrics, anticipates needs of team and patients using analytics. Example: Staffing changes related to patient volumes.
Maintain management of specialty supplies, submits special order requests for patient care. Maintains oversite for practices to include processing of sterile instruments.
Ensure responsibility and visible commitment of patient-centered programs/initiatives through collaboration and implementation of initiatives across the health system.
Performs other duties as assigned and/or participates in special projects to support the mission of VCUHS and department. Provides assistance to team members. Accepts alternate assignments as required.

Employment Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.
Preferred Education:
Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.
Licensure/Certification Required:
Current Registered Nurse license
AHA BLS Certification or equivalent OR AHA ALS Certification or equivalent
Receive and maintain applicable certifications for the program
Licensure/Certification Preferred:
Minimum Qualifications
Years and Type of Required Experience
Management of a previous clinical program.
Experience in gynecology oncology, gynecology, or oncology.
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant clinical experience.
Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive leadership experience.
