PRIMARY PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Following directions with a function sheet, floor plan and supervisory directions, the Catering Wait Staff assists with the set-up of College events; serves food and clears tables at College events; and assists with maintaining catering supplies and equipment. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Understand and utilize a “pull sheet” to pack catering materials, including food and equipment. Load, transport and unload catering materials, use handcarts, electrical carts and/or motorized vehicles.
- Assist with table set-ups for College events, placing china, silverware, glassware, and linen as required including using décor and merchandising as directed.
- Serve and remove plates, glasses, silverware, and other event equipment as needed or directed by contract.
- Perform light scullery duties, which includes scraping plates, sorting dishes, and removing trash.
- Clean up after events, including distributing linen, soiled dishes, clean dishes, décor, etc. to appropriate locations.
- Inventory plates, cups, silverware, pans, pots, bowls, décor, etc., as directed.
- Assist in the kitchen as needed.
- Participate in training sessions as provided by the College. Assist with the training of other staff members as appropriate.
- Perform other essential duties and tasks specific to the position.
- Active support for the College’s Principles of Community and Principles of Diversity in the performance of job duties.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
This individual must possess the knowledge, skills and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Knowledge of safe working methods and procedures, including safe practices in delivering and serving food.
- Knowledge of different types of catering set-ups and food displays, including different types of place setting styles for tables and catering equipment.
- Must be able to follow Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HAACP) guidelines, (ServSafe), and Personal Protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Ensure compliance by staff with safety rules and regulations, proper use of personal safety equipment, food preparation equipment, and cleaning compounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, push, pull, stoop, twist, stretch, and lift boxes and break down up to 30 pounds without assistance. Must be able to work on feet for prolonged periods of time.
- Communicate orally and/or in writing with co-workers and patrons in English. Ability to read and understand a catering form.
- Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Available and willing to work a rotating schedule as needed including working overtime with weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to provide the highest quality of customer service at all times.

State law requires a current California Handler’s Card.

This is a regular, full-time, 40 hours per week, 12 month, and non-exempt level position. Benefits-eligible.
The scheduled hours for this position are Wednesday-Sunday 10am-6:30pm.. Hours and days are subject to change based on the needs of the College or the department.
Hourly rate range: $17.50-$18.50. The hourly rate of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

None.
