PositionOverview:
Our growth has created the need fora System Engineer as part of the Train Control and Monitoring groupwithin the Electrical Engineering department of the overall Rolling StockEngineering. The candidate will contribute to the development of the TrainControl and Monitoring System (TCMS) across all rail vehicle platformsdeveloped in Sacramento (Light Rail, Locomotives, Passenger Coaches) as well asthe propulsion system designs for Light Rail vehicles.
We are looking for a teammate withsoftware development and potentially power electronics experience interested inthe control and diagnostics of moving Rolling Stock vehicles across multipleexciting public transportation projects.
Whatyou will be doing:
- preparation of internal concepts for use by other Engineering groups as well as design review and other documentation for the customer
- represent propulsion, train control, and monitoring functions as the domain guide in customer-facing and internal meetings
- programming control and monitoring functions in a controller (PLC) using industrial programming languages (per IEC 61131) via tools such as SibasG
- work effectively with remote team members(in Europe) chipping in to software development or propulsion system design
- close collaboration with many interfacing groups such as electrical and mechanical systems and Design Engineering as well as factory testing, commissioning, and field service
- experience with crafting deliverables for an overall software development process (i.e. EN 50657 and IEEE 1558)
- experience with power electronics (IGBT-based) and industrial controllers (PLC) and their selection, configuration, and programming (based on IEC 61131)
- knowledge of IT product lifecycles, obsolescence management, cybersecurity
- practical experience in the application of relevant industry standards surrounding Train Control Networks (i.e. IEC 61375) to build compliant and safe designs
- Experience working in a manufacturing and testing environment
Whatyou will need to be successful:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 1 or more years of meaningful work experience
- Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering with 3 or more years of relevant work experience
- Proven experience gained as part of internships or educational programs can be considered
