Peraton is seeking an experienced Mid to Senior Software Developer/Engineer who can troubleshoot a high-visibility software application and convert it to a modernized design using cutting-edge technology. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in software development, possess excellent leadership and problem-solving skills, and demonstrate a passion for technology and high-quality software solutions.
This position supports the Skyfire program, a next gen Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Indications and Warning (I&W) system. The program's goal is to establish a repository of resident space objects (RSOs), identify RSOs of interest, and deliver data to ground operators. TheSkyfire team leverages expertise in programmatics, sensor modeling, and system engineering to deliver this advanced SDA I&W system.
What you'll do:
Troubleshoot existing applications and lead the design of new applications, including development, testing, and deployment of complex software applications.
Mentor junior developers and foster a collaborative and innovative development environment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to diagnose, define, and implement system application features/enhancements.
Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality and share best practices with the team.
Debug and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring the robustness and reliability of applications.
Stay current with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices, and integrate them into the development process.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
7 years of experience with an Associates degree; OR 5 years of experience with a Bachelors degree; OR 3 years with an Masters degree; OR a PhD. Four (4) years of additional experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors degree.
This position requires the candidate possess a minimum of Top Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI and pass a polygraph within 30 days of employment or at customers request- contract requires TS/SCI with poly. The candidate must maintain the clearance.
Proficiency with Java (Model, Entity, Data Transfer Object (DTO), Data Access (DAO)).
Experience with cloud architecture, including Docker containers.
Development experience on Unix-based systems like RedHat Enterprise Linux.
Proficiency with the Spring framework.
Experience with JUnit test creation, Remote Debugging (JDWP), and Spring Framework - MapStruct Annotations.
Experience with a relational database, such as PostgreSQL, and understanding of queries and commands for REDIS.
Experience working with Linux distributions, including command usage and navigation.
Experience with Messaging systems like ActiveMQ and Camel Route.
Working knowledge of web applications such as HTTP, HTML, REST, WebSocket, CSS, and JavaScript.
Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and Gerrit/GIT.
Knowledge of Bootstrap and Less.
Experience with Microservices, Containerization, and Kubernetes using Spring Boot.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience configuring web servers (e.g., NGINX, Apache).
Ability to collaborate with external developers and integrate their components into a larger framework.
Experience working in an Agile environment.
Active CompTIA Security+ CE certification or working toward certification

Target Salary Range
$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
