The primary purpose of the Research Project Manager is to manage and monitor research projects related to development, evaluation, implementation, and dissemination of decision support and interventions and implementation science projects within the Decision Support Laboratory and CCSG Decision Support Core Resource.
Job Specific Competencies
Research project management 40%
* Manages, plans and implements scientific research projects.
* Develops and implements research project work plans.
* Manages the review and analysis of project milestones and deliverables.
* Serves as liaison to sponsor and participating research sites as appropriate.
Research procedures 20%
* Provides all study-related coordination necessary for projects including scheduling and facilitating team meetings.
* Carries out research procedures such as qualitative interviews, cognitive interviews, or delegates as appropriate.
* Evaluates resulting research data and revises techniques or approaches.
* Supervises staff and trainees assigned to projects.
Research compliance 20%
* Processes and manages all compliance and regulatory issues associated with industry research collaborations and laboratory study agreements.
* Develops and maintains approval of IRB protocols, MTAs, and DUAs.
* Writes standard operating procedures and trains staff on protocol procedures.
* Develops and maintains research databases.
* Monitors research studies for quality assurance and participates in protocol audits.
Financial operations 10%
* Creates project budgets and works with internal and external staff to ensure appropriate expenses are captured.
* Manages grant applications and awarded grants.
* Assists with iLab billing.
Analysis and writing 10%
* Participates in the development, preparation, and submission of various scientific progress reports.
* Participates in analysis of qualitative and quantitative data for manuscripts.
* Assist in writing peer-reviewed abstracts and manuscripts for submission.
* Conducts literature reviews and creates evidence summaries and educational content for lay audiences.

EDUCATION: Required: Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.
Preferred: Master's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.
EXPERIENCE: Required: Six years experience in scientific or experimental research to include two years as a project manager. With preferred degree, four years scientific or experimental research experience to include one year as a project manager.
Preferred: Experience with development and evaluation of decision support interventions. Experience with dissemination and implementation research. Experience with population research protocols in the cancer prevention or cancer treatment context. Experience with IRB regulatory requirements. Supervisory experience. Experience with scientific writing. MD Anderson Cancer Center experience is needed.
