Job Summary Westat is seeking an experienced editor to join its editorial team. The successful candidate will work on proposals and client deliverables such as research study reports, manuals, web content, and internal and external communication products.
A hybrid work arrangement with 1-2 days on-site at a Westat office location is preferred, remote work arrangements will be considered.
Job Responsibilities
Copyediting for accuracy, consistency, and conformity to style and tone across print, web, and multimedia platforms
Understanding and implementing client style guides for identity guidelines, usage, and formatting
Managing projects through the production life cycle, including coordinating with other creative teams, working with materials developers, and ensuring the overall quality of the work
Reviewing a variety of products targeted to different audiences across several research topics, including health, social policy, transportation, and education
Applying plain language principles
Participating in meetings with teams and clients
Basic Qualifications
A BA/BS in English, communications, journalism, or a related discipline
A minimum of 7 years of copyediting and production editing experience
Demonstrated work experience in assessing business materials for editorial needs, prioritizing work, and shifting gears as needed, managing a workload with both short- and long-term projects
Experience using a variety of style manuals (e.g., APA, Chicago, GPO, AMA) and the ability to learn and apply other client styles
Demonstrated ability to edit and format references according to various style guides
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated skill in editing a variety of business documents, including proposals, reports, and presentations
Demonstrated experience with substantive editing
Experience working with teams of authors, editors, graphic designers, and production specialists
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
Experience with Monday.com and Box a plus
Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated communication skills

Organization skills, including time management ability
