The Prince George's County Government Board of Elections is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Systems Analyst 2 position, grade G17, in the Information Technology Division.
About the Position: This is a full performance level involving professional technical work analyzing requirements for automated data processing systems and peripheral equipment. Incumbents perform the full range of assignments normally characteristic of this level. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level system analyst or other senior systems personnel.
About the Agency The mission of the Prince George's County Board of Elections is to promote voter education, administer an efficient voting process, maintain an accurate voter registration database, and ensure that elected officials are elected in accordance with Federal, State, and County election laws. The Board of Elections is responsible for the supervision of elections, voter registration and record keeping, and the administration of election laws in Prince George's County, in accordance with The Election Law Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland. The Board and the Election Administrator seek to provide voter registration to every County citizen who wants it.
Examples of Work
Provides technical support to information technology users of agency and troubleshoots.
Resolves technical problems relative to: Computer equipment, databases, software and networking; Telephone, fax machines, copy machine and other miscellaneous IT equipment; and Polling place telephone issues on Election Day only.
Stays updated with the latest technologies.
Prepares, tracks, and maintains inventory of all Board of Elections information technology equipment including but not limited to computers, software licenses, telephones, fax machines, scanners, and all other miscellaneous equipment.
Maintains all telecommunication equipment.
Maintains and updates telephone lines within the BOE Office.
Updates BOE forms and public voter registration database.
Assists with Election Day preparation.
Assists with maintaining the project management schedule for BOE during election cycles.
Performs tasks and duties as assigned within responsibility level of this class of work.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field; or
Graduation from a vocational school, plus/and
One (1) year of experience.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of block diagramming, detail flow charting, and report formatting procedures.
Working knowledge of latest programming methods, software capabilities and hardware performance characteristics.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, representatives of private firms, county officials, and the general public.
Ability to converse effectively orally and in writing.
