Under the direction of the Director of Radiology, and with general supervision of the Supervisory staff, the Clinical Instructor of Radiology handles and treats patients of all ages and duties for assuring the appropriate and efficient functions of the divisions and insure the quality application of technical expertise. The clinical instructor provides educational leadership, initiative, and flexibility in the clinical environment.

Responsibilities:
- Instructs and trains students in various procedures and techniques.
- Provides educational leadership, initiative, and flexibility in the clinical environment.
- Orientates new students, develops student rotational schedules, maintains students clinical records, counsels and advises students as needed.
- Communicates to all radiological technologists the specific process for student evaluations.
- Performs and/or reviews a minimum of two competency tests per student per clinical semester.
- Plans and conducts clinical classes in film critique, registry review, clinical procedures and safety standards.
- Conducts two (2) student conferences per semester, student evaluations, and professional ethical performance.
- Attends and participates in clinical instructors monthly meetings at the college.
- Active professional development demonstrated by pursuing courses pertinent to the profession.
- Coordinates and conducts staff/student in-service programs
- Demonstrates the ability to position patients to obtain the desired results as prescribed and specified for diagnosis as ordered by physician and radiological protocols.
- Demonstrates the practices of sterile technique and prevents cross contamination.
- Maintains versatility in order to cover other imaging areas of Diagnostic Radiology Maintains and operates equipment according to equipment specifications.
- Maintains a clean and Organizational work area.
- Rotates within the departmental sections and by shift as assigned.
- Demonstrates and maintains ability to explain procedures to patients.
- Relays and reports information regarding equipment malfunctions to co-workers, supervisor and/or manager in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates the ability to set up and perform general radiographic films in the department and with mobile units using minimal exposure and ensuring radiation safety practices.

Education:
Certifications:
- Must be a Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT), in good standing.
- Current state licensure (RL) required prior to employment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider required.
Complexity of Work:
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Work Experience:
- Three years of experience in Diagnostic Radiological Imaging.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
