We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer - CHAPEA Mars Analog to join our team!

Responsibilities:

• Support the CHAPEA (Crew Health and Performance Exploration Analog) project through hardware development, manufacturing, assembly, testing and final delivery, in addition to troubleshooting anomalies
  
• Work in a team environment, and report to the project manager and for technical support, task assignment, and processes
  
• Develop and execute technical test procedures to ensure proper function of systems
  
• Plan and execute hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical failures with hardware, if any
  
• Confirm workmanship is performed in accordance with test procedures and checklists
  
• Maintain parts inventory
  
• Participate in status meetings of test coordination, buildup, and integration
  
• Interact frequently with other JETS teams and departments
  
• Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer, and other NASA support contractors, and international space partners
  
• Perform job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions
• Perform other duties as required

Requisition Qualifications:

• ?Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering with experience in the field or in a related area
  
• Self-motivated, team player and adaptability to a dynamic environment and the ability to complete all assignments as required
  
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with customers and management at all levels
  
• Experience with test procedure development
  
• Familiar with reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings
  
• Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
  
• Must have the ability to visualize and work with complex mechanical/electrical systems and work with others in problem solving as part of a team
  
• Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products

Requisition Preferences: ?

• Familiarity with common hand tools and proficiency using them to perform. assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting on mechanical systems.
  
• Familiarity with common test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes
  
• Prior experience with hardware anomaly troubleshooting and failure analysis
• Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
