Justification: We would like to hire one resource employee for six months with a targeted start date of August 1, 2023. This is a Digital Repository contract-funded position and would report to Nicholas Camardo, Digital Imaging and Content Manger. The Digital Repository has recently received an influx of audiovisual materials from the Department of Defense as part of an ongoing contract. The volume of work has created a backlog of material, requiring at least 3,000 labor hours to complete, which would be the primary responsibility of this position.
We examined the workload of current staff and resource employees and determined that this new work cannot be distributed to them.
The duties of this position are comparable to those of a Video Archivist & Post-Production Specialist. This position would work in conjunction with current staff to assist in quality assurance , hands-on archival work, and student worker supervision to increase monthly output. We would like to offer one position to a former student worker at the Digital Repository, Jack Johnson. Jack has already been trained extensively on our applications and workflows, so we
intend his orientation and training time to be minimal.
He recently worked as a resource employee for the USC Shoah Foundation. His resume is attached. The hourly wage range for a Video Archivist & Post-Production Specialist is $32.78 to $47.24 We are recommending $28.00/hour for this resource position. Position has been approved by Dean Melissa Just, SBO Gretchen Lees, and Libraries Cabinet. No SHC approval is needed as this is resource worker position.
