ThePlant Operations Manageris responsible for overall process of production at the plant. The incumbent manages several supervisors or leads, working under the overall direction of the plant manager. The roles key challenge is to maintain production within specific guidelines for production efficiency, labor cost, materials usage, waste amounts, quality and safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for ensuring that employee are utilizing safe manufacturing practices and are trained in accordance with Company safety rules and guidelines. Participates in plant safety meetings. Prioritizes and promotes safety above all else.
Responsible for manufacturing a quality product that meets customer and Company quality requirements. Ensures that department employees are trained in QA/QC practices. Works with Quality Manager and QA/QC department on quality improvement initiatives and on corrective action to customer complaints. Oversees shift-wide quality training and quality-related crew meetings.
Works to attain maximum productivity and efficiency in the departments through:
Measurement and analysis of key production and operating data.
Overseeing and chairing productivity improvement meetings with supervisors and crews.
Efficient utilization of personnel.
Establishing and reinforcing a level of accountability and expectation across all shifts.
Maintaining JTA and training of personnel.
Responsible for department compliance of all food safety requirements BRC, HACCP, GMPs, general housekeeping, etc.
Minimizes waste by ensuring Company waste reduction and improvement processes are being followed by all department employees.?Tracks waste numbers and drives toward continuous improvement.?Establishes implements and communicates department- and machine-specific waste goals.
Operates department in a cost-effective manner, and promotes cost reduction across all shifts.?Includes accountability for staffing levels, overtime management, temporary hires, consumables usage, tooling costs, etc.
Responsible for handling disciplinary matters in a fair, consistent and professional manner.?Works with employees to find agreeable solutions to potential management/employee problems whenever possible.?Upholds managements rights through a strong knowledge of the corrective action process.
Conducts annual reviews of supervisors and other reports.?Recognizes supervisory training needs and works with management to provide formalized training in key areas.?Works to develop supervisors in all areas so that they may continue to grow with the company.
Recognizes, develops and, where appropriate, promotes promising personnel that demonstrate valuable operational and/or leadership skills.?Recognizes and rewards employees for success in the areas of safety, quality and productivity, both on a department-specific basis and in accordance with Company recognition programs.

Identifying and evaluating ideas to improve the plants operations; participating actively in process improvement, cost reduction, and other initiatives to continuously improve, the plants operations and overall performance
Developing and motivating cost-effective alternatives and improvements to the production process.
Maximizing the efficiency of production lines and ensuring the effective utilization of all production staff and related resources.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field.
10+ years of work experience in a manufacturing environment with at least 5+ years of management experience.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, factory environment. A majority of the time will be spent on the floor. Some weekend work required.?
