Position Summary and Responsibilities | The Program Manager reports to the Director of First Generation, Low Income and/or DACA Program (FLI) and is responsible for supporting and enhancing the lives of students who identify as first generation, low income, and/or undocumented. The position will assist with program planning and management of supportive campus events, leadership development and relevant community engagement for FLI students.
FLI maximizes student success at Vassar from matriculation to graduation through numerous initiatives and programming, such as the Foundations Pre-Orientation Program; events that facilitate networking and mentoring relationships; activities that foster community ties and connection; and providing students with leadership opportunities. In doing so, evening and occasional weekend assignments are expected. The program manager will advance student inclusion and organize relevant programming so that students may focus on their academic and co-curricular interests in an environment that is affirming and welcoming. The FLI Program Manager will be an essential member of the Student Growth and Engagement (SGE) team, charged with building community care to help students thrive.
Responsibilities: - Assist the Director by working with the FLI team in developing, implementing and assessing regular programming focused on student success, holistic wellness and development and the like, and other annual/traditional programs including the Senior Reception, the Senior Summit, National First-Gen Celebration, and the Foundations Pre-Orientation program.
- Advise, consult and advocate for FLI students on an individual basis to ensure the quality of their academic, social, and personal experiences. Liaise with campus partners to foster connections between FLI students and college resources.
- Partner with designing and facilitating trainings on relevant topics as needed or requested by the campus community.
- Assist with managing overall marketing and branding of the FLI Program, including digital, website, print and promotional materials.
- Work collaboratively with other resource centers and campus partners, such as the ALANA Center, the LGBTQ+ Center, the Office of International Student Services, the Women’s Center, the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life and Contemplative Practices, Health Promotion and Education, etc. and alumnaei/i affinity groups in support of FLI students and campus-wide initiatives.
- Membership on college committees and project work as related to the description of this role through the FLI program and the Office of Student Growth and Engagement.
- Evening and occasional weekend activities are expected.

Qualifications | Required - Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required. Demonstrated leadership experience in college student development, higher education or related field, including working with first generation, low income, and/or undocumented students.
- Ability to affirm, advocate for and engage with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience leading groups and facilitating workshops on topics such as belonging, student success, etc.
- Excellent oral, written communication and organizational skills, and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks successfully.
- Experience leading groups and facilitating workshops on relevant topics.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of a liberal arts college, and to social justice, equity, inclusion initiatives.
Preferred - 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
- Master’s degree.
- Competency with social media and content delivery.

Compensation | The starting annual base salary range for this position is $58,459-$63,000.
