The City of Pomona has an exciting opportunity for a Housing Technician I in the Neighborhood Services Department. The Housing Technician I is a key support position for the Neighborhood Services Department, which strives to leverage the power of affordable, safe, and stable housing to help the Pomona community thrive and low-income families increase their potential for long-term economic success and a sustained high quality of life. The position, under general supervision, will perform a variety of routine to complex technical and administrative staff support related to Federal, State and Local housing programs and grants administered by the Housing Authority and Housing Services Division to conduct research and analysis and provide information and assistance regarding housing programs and grants.
The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for this position is proactive, focused, and clearly understands housing administration and program activities to carry out their responsibilities effectively. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations including administrative and departmental policies and procedures relating to the provisions of subsidized, low-income housing and rental assistance programs; homeless programs, community development programs. They will establish rapport and productive relationships with the community and value diversity. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO APPLY

Education and Experience:
Equivalent to a high school diploma supplemented by college level courses.
Two years of increasingly responsible experience working with housing or grant programs.
License or Certificate:
Possession of, or must obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license.

Provide technical and administrative staff support related to Federal, State and Local housing programs and grants including Continuum of Care, CDBG, HOME, Section 8, ESG and Measure H funds.
Serve as primary resource for information regarding housing programs and grants policies and procedures; and interpret housing programs and grants regulations.
Conduct, coordinate, and monitor housing programs and grants, including initial and continued participant eligibility; collect, survey, compile, and analyze information from various sources on a variety of issues related to housing programs and grants; write reports which present and interpret data; identify alternatives; make and justify recommendations.
Monitor and balance various housing programs and grants accounts, verifying availability of funds and classification of expenditures.
Initiate and maintain a variety of resource materials, files, and records related to housing programs and grants; maintain control files on matters in progress; maintain and update resource materials.
Serve as administrative support to various committees, commissions, and task forces; prepare, copy, and distribute meeting agendas and related materials, minutes, resolutions, or other formal documents.
Special Requirements: Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:
Ability to work in a standard office environment; ability to travel to different sites and locations.
